Sucrose esters have the IMA (Intermediate Marketing Authorization) status in
Canada for use in Confectionery.
The Canada Gazette has published the Interim Marketing Authorization (IMA) for sucrose esters of fatty acids on the 14th February. The IMA permits the immediate use of sucrose esters of fatty acids as an emulsifier in unstandardized confectionery products at a maximum level of 0.5 percent.
The IMA-regulation enables the addition of sucrose esters in confectionery in Canada. Sisterna will use this advantage to promote sucrose esters more actively in Canada; permission for a wider use of sucrose esters is expected.
Sisterna is the leading supplier of sucrose esters in The Western Hemisphere. The sucrose esters are emulsifiers with a broad range of HLB-values and therefore a wide variety of functionalities. Sucrose esters (E473) find their way in numerous food applications and are used to optimise processing and improve quality of products.
As a committed partner for the food industry, Sisterna offers expertise and
know-how in product- and processing development in applications.
